Is your skin oily, normal or dry?

What's your skin type? Did you know the average population spends 22 minutes at beauty counters browsing and shopping for the latest make-up products on the market or searching for solutions to help their skin look and feel its best.

Another interesting fact: Canadians spent in total $1.4 billion on prestige beauty products over the past year. So what are consumers like yourself shopping for? Skin care, foundations, eyeshadows and multi functional products that are easy to apply on the go.

So back to my question, is your skin oily, normal or dry? Many women face challenges with their skin when it comes to a lack of balance of oil and water, also diet, climate change and hormonal changes play a factor. It is important to ask questions to determine the best skin care routine and makeup products to use when choosing the right products for your skin type.

Skin type is how skin acts and feels - your skin can either be dry, normal/combination, or oily. Skin concern is what concerns you most about your skin. Here are a few points to consider when determining your skin type:

  • skin texture
  • look of your skin
  • comfort of your skin

Dry Skin - lacks moisture, skin feels dry, tight, looks dull and may have a rough texture.

Oily Skin - results from an overactive sebaceous gland. Skin can appear shiny or cloudy with enlarged pores.

Combination Skin - some areas are oily (typically the centre t-zone) and other areas are dry.

Normal to Dry Skin - skin is normal with dry patches (usually caused by dehydration).

To balance your skin it is highly recommended to use the proper skincare before applying your makeup. Learn more about your skin by taking a few seconds to fill out our survey.
